The leader of our 2015 Retreat was The Rev. M. Linda Jaramillo was Rev. M. Linda Jaramillioexecutive minister of the United Church of Christ’s  (UCC’s) Justice and Witness Ministries, responsible for the church’s work on human rights and social, racial and economic justice. She has been active in various UCC settings including the Commission for Racial Justice, the Coordinating Center for Women. She also serves on the UCC’s five member Collegium of Officers, the first Hispanic to serve in such a position. Rev. Jaramillo has a long history of involvement in justice issues both in the church and in community movements and as assistant moderator of UCC General Synod. In 1998 she was a UCC delegate to the World Council of Churches Assembly in Harare, Zimbabwe.

The Strathdees

She is a former president and vice-president of the Council for Hispanic Ministries and former co-convener of the Council of Racial and Ethnic Ministries. Jaramillo has over 30 years of management experience. Her professional experience is closely related to her commitment to justice and peace. As a manager in programs in violence prevention, HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention, adult community-based education, Migrant Head Start and civil rights in child welfare, she is always guided by the core values of equity and self-determination. She received a B.S. in Business from Portland (Ore.) State University and a M.Div. from P.S.R. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.
